Vulpiano Records

Marilyn Roxie

Vulpiano Records was launched in November 2009 by synth musician Marilyn Roxie, initially as a place to house great unsigned and independent artists they had come in contact with through networking in the music blogosphere. The concept behind Vulpiano is simple: to offer quality free music. Genres we specialize in are ambient, electronic, and acoustic. All artists are linked by their spirit of independence and experimentation. We hope you enjoy and share the music.

Long-time Vulpiano stalwart Richey Hackett returns, embellishing on his eclectic fusion of synthy alternative rock. A multiplicity of techniques - including samples, industrial electronics and even trap rhythms - undergird Richey's lyrically reflective writing; with songs more fully-formed than ever. Highlights include  Vulpiano single  “Keep Your Eye On The Time” with its beautiful ambient coda, the disquieting glitches of “These Are The Voices”, and the introspective ballad...

Following on from his  Young Bloods / Beasts EP   earlier this month, King Elizabeth is back again with his third LP of the year:  A State of Mind . King Elizabeth continues his astonishingly eclectic journey into the nexus of synth music and alternative rock, now with a decidedly neo-psychedelic bent often rooted in a legacy of alternative dance fusions: hazy dirges, ambient techno workouts, hypnotic loops, even transatlantic electro-industrial sounds. Part of the album's charm is how often...

Fabio Keiner makes his debut on Vulpiano with a masterful droning-ambient work - quintessentially meditative, even ominous in its awesome scope. In the tradition of classic ambient it enchants, electrifies and transports the listener into different states of consciousness (if they are willing to give themselves over). Words from the artist: 'shiva-rudra' - a longform ambient dronescape improvisation in honor of lord shiva, ecstatic creator and destroyer god of the hindu pantheon - was inspired...

With this sampler, we present artists who have made Vulpiano across the span of 2021 and into early 2022. We find both continuity and renewal of the recurring themes solidified at our core over 12 years. There are long-time pillars of the label: Richey Hackett’s tremendous growth branching into emotionally vital electronic compositions; the ever-versatile, 90s alternative-saturated introspections of King Elizabeth (furiously prolific since 2020 after a long absence since the early years of...

Many rewarding textures, twists, and turns are to be found in Richey Hackett's 'You Are Nothing But Light'. Charting new, dark ambient territory, each of these eight tracks are compelling both on their own and taken together as a whole; stand-outs include "True Dreams of False Awakenings", run-through with a mysterious, quirky energy, and the creeping, nervous buzz of "Rotating On The Toothed Wheel". This entire EP comes from August 2015 just like “Garden” (which I lifted from Mint and Turquoise Trilogy). Richey returns with a single, "Sleepswitch", ahead of his upcoming solo album, along with exclusive b-side "Stepping Out Of The Window". Evoking the experience of insomnia, a panoramic synth refrain recalls someone pitching through a seastorm as a post-punk rhythm forces the ship onwards. Welcome back for another filing in this discreetly dark era of Vulpiano, where organically recurring overtones have surfaced amongst the artists foraging herein. As per usual, we present diverse music with an experimental heart. We move through many melancholic, slow-burning hinterlands of sound collage, possessed phonographs, and transmission wave existentialism. But before that, there are hazy impressions of a never-summer, aqua-nostalgia, and acid-nocturnal driving music that scales an...

Lhas Fawn is a new artist to Vulpiano, bringing an intoxicatingly vast palette of tone and noise to a musical dialect recurring throughout the label's history. Words from the artist: “Loose companion record to the Holy Page release,  Derzyklus . Leftovers and demos grotesquely mixed as pulled from an old cassette tape, some related to the original triangle story. ‘Long Live’ through...

Vulpiano Records is very pleased to welcome back Andy Baker (aka Anton Rothschild, and member of Fire Island Pines) for his release as Branch Line Idols. Baker continues to excel at sophisticated rhythms and a spacious minimalism in electronic sound and the art of pop as it should be. *** "I can't reach out with my hands.  I can't touch things.  And when I touch, I feel nothing" Very loosely translated, and then further paraphrased, these are the sentiments of Alain Leroy, the...

From the forthcoming 2017 release  Colours  comes the single track, "Greenish Blue" by Golden Grey. Providing a sample of what to expect in the soon-to-be future, along with the never before released b-side, "Underpass". Golden Grey has been compared to artists such as C148 and  Ratatat,  while maintaining a sound unique all on its own. It's ambient electronic music that builds towards epic finales, leaving the listener wanting more.  Follow-up  to  Awaken the Wolf .

We're proud to present a newcomer to Vulpiano Records: My Heart, Your Thunder, whose EP Sore Tooth offers an assortment of electronic styles and moods. My personal favorite tracks on this release are the industrial-tinged "Good Luck" and playful "End Boss". Words from the artist: "Sore Tooth has a symmetry of sorts; it's book-ended by a pair of wobbly and almost ridiculous songs, which sandwich two of the saddest compositions I have ever written and nestled in the...

A Netlabel Day 2021 Exclusive Liquid, micro-metallic tones and irregular two-step invite us into an intimate realm where an ambient trance of reverie can take hold. Words from the artist:  "If you listen to this song for the first time and then say "I won't listen to it a second time", that's one answer too. But if you want to hear it again, just think about it. If you listen to this music once again, whom do you want to listen to it with? family? Close friend? Girlfriend?...

"Keep Your Eye On The Time" is the second single from Richey's upcoming ninth studio album ('Ephemeral') and is backed by the b-side "Dystonia". This single is one of Richey Hackett's strongest songs yet, moving through soaring synths into a soothing, ambient conclusion. "Dystonia" shows off another side with relaxing guitar rhythms at turns becoming a bit more sinister.

Lately Kind of Yeah -  Voyage  (VULP-0139) Part of the  Lately Kind of Yeah  archive series. Voyage  marks a noticeable turning point in Lately Kind of Yeah’s discography. While there are echoes of the earlier highly thematic, lost video game OST vibes of  Hutton’s Paradox   and  Sol Saga , there is a rich tapestry of complex sounds and surprising transitions here that makes for an altogether more refined listening experience, particularly in my personal favorites “Artisans” and...

Homecoming from King Elizabeth on Vulpiano Records (VULP-0030) is an epic intro to this one-man band from the UK. With influences from post-punk greats like Joy Division and the Associates to psychedelic-tinged music like The Doors and The Stone Roses, listening to King Elizabeth provides not only a complete listening experience, but into the beyond as well. Homecoming is pulled from forthcoming album Obsessive Desires, plus the single release includes b-side Faith.

Following single release Homecoming on Vulpiano Records, King Elizabeth's full length album Obsessive Desires (VULP-0032) is out now. A solo artist playing all instruments and performing all vocals, King Elizabeth's adeptness at establishing an atmosphere of vintage post-punk and synth-rock coolness, interpreted through a unique, modern lens. Stand-out tracks like Obsession, Carnival, Homecoming, Hurricanes, and Elusive You profoundly illustrate the variety of moods found on this LP, from...

Previously appearing on Vulpiano Records with a compilation spanning his catalog 2007-2010, British independent artist Richey Hackett has just released the new single for his forthcoming album Void Songs (coming September 27th), VULP-0016. Taking an electronica direction, quite a hop from his usual pop-rock style, Softly, Slowly is both catchy and unnerving, Hackettâs vocals taking on a haunting quality amidst mesmerizing, hypnotic loops of drums and eerie melodies - one of his best works yet...

Baltic Avenue (VULP-0018) is Italian pop-rock group Tiny Tides' second offering on Vulpiano Records, the first being the single The Smiths & The Cure. The album was originally to be titled Gasoline Alley, says Mark Zonda: "since I was born and I still live in there, but I don't want to be confused with the Rod Stewart album and song", which is also pictured on the front cover. Baltic Avenue was cooked up especially for Vulpiano, a charmingly rustic, Beatles-inspired EP. Song...

Aseptic Void - Carnal (VULP-0045) is out now. Italian multi-instrumentalist Davide T, known here as Aseptic Void, has followed up their previous Vulpiano Records EP Alone with an impressive continuation of dark themes and masterful use of static, haunting spaces in their music, including silence. "The theme of the album is the flesh and abominations of the concepts of limit. A black hole of anti-identity in which to get pleasantly lost. The truth of the flesh is multifaceted."

Bisamratta's self-titled release and their first solo offering (VULP-0039) is out now - a beautiful selection of ambient drone tracks: 1. Dissolve, 2. Rorelse av Ljus, and 3. Sky With Milk. Bisamratta (Vlad Luchansky from Russia) describes his approach: "Since age of 14 I've been keen on jazz and always been dedicated to improvisation. While studying music for myself, I've managed to play with local and foreign improvisers but I still wanted to expand myself. And then I've discovered...

A song built on contradictions, sonically chasing itself with a structure that layers as it gains its momentum of revelation. King Elizabeth takes a train ride out of the city, seeing the brick façades turn to stone slate as the clouds swell and break over the Peak District.

The music that i made for "Poder Contra Verdad" (power vs truth) documentary, directed by José Ramón Rebollada.  The documentary tells the story of the Royal Cotton Factory , a neo-classical building , avant-garde at the time, which was built in Ávila, Spain by order of Charles III . It was one of the earliest attempts to create an industrial fabric in Spain and was a source of wealth in the city over three centuries. The film focuses primarily on the last years of the building...

Following up from his 2014 album The Sins of Science, J.G. Hackett is back with a new album full to the brim with masterfully catchy synth rock as well as an exploration of new electronic styles. Words from the artist: It seems an age since I released any music. As many musicians will no doubt appreciate all too readily, life has got in the way. In my case that has been building a business, which has been so all-consuming my musical productivity has suffered. So it feels like a real treat to be...
